MISSION: To promote all aspects of boating at SDYC, to incorporate fishing into our Juniors Programs, and to provide SDYC Juniors with hands on education toward marine preservation and conservation.

LOGISTICS

  • There is 1 paid camp instructor per 5 fishing camp participants per session:
  • Cost: $225 per child
  • Program will run two separate weeks, from 1-4pm, June 24 – June 28 AND July 15-19
  • SDYC Anglers will provide all rods/reels/terminal tackle for the camp, but please bring your own if you have it
  • Camp participants will get a SDYC Anglers Club T-shirt (select your size in “Registration")
  • Camp will meet at the beginning and end of each day at the Etchells hoist lawn area under the SDYC Anglers baby-blue EZ-Up.
  • Camp will focus on teaching children the basics of fishing. Most time will be spent fishing off the docks at SDYC. More advanced Jr. Anglers may not be the best fit for this program
  • Parents:  please make sure each of your camp participants have sufficient sunblock applied prior drop off and/or are well protected from the sun (hats, long sleeves,  etc.). Please also make sure your camp participant brings a full water bottle to camp with them.

  1. Etiquette, “Be a polite angler”
  2. Fishing Safety and Dangers
  3. Tying knots, rigging hooks and weights, rigging plastics and other lures
  4. Casting, setting the drag and setting the hook
  5. Fish Identification, regulations, size limits and respect for species
  6. Bait selection and rigging
  7. History of Fishing in San Diego
  8. Filleting, proper disposal, caring for meat and line recycling
