The SDYC Tennis Fleet is in full swing! This group of SDYC tennis enthusiasts has been formed to promote social tennis and tournament events for yacht club members. Check out our calendar of events, the court bulletin board and the monthly Mainsheet for current planned activities. If you are a tennis player and are interested in knowing more about Tennis Fleet Membership, please contact Tracy Nichols. Newcomers are always welcome as are any volunteers for the events.
We'll continue to have boat raft ups in La Playa, Adult Clinics by a Pro, and a club championship ladder. We also have numerous social tournaments throughout the year to include the always popular Fourth of July tourney. All of our events are a wonderful opportunity to practice and learn new skills.
Hope to see you on the court!
Annual dues $35.00
The two tennis courts are open from 6:00 AM to 10:00 PM. Both courts are to be used on a first come first served basis.
Play is limited to one and a half hours for doubles and limited to one hour for singles, when others are waiting. Courts are to be used for tennis only. No bikes, skateboards, or scooters on the courts please.
All players are requested to sign up on the board located on the North side of Court #2. You must be ready to play at the time of sign-up.
Courts are for members only. Guests must be accompanied by a member.
Lights may be turned on by the guard at the guard shack.
Courts will be reserved by the Tennis Fleet for Fleet tournaments and drop-in Sunday afternoon play, once a month. Members wishing to reserve courts for private parties must have approval of the Tennis Fleet committee before planned event.
Extra tennis racquets, balls and a ball machine are available for member's use. See guard in security shack for key to Tennis Fleet shed at the North side of Court #1.
The Maintenance Schedule is as follows: Every Wednesday at 1:00 PM, the courts will be hosed down. Debris is blown of the courts at 1:00 PM daily.
The Tennis Fleet has a ball machine available in the shed outside the Court #1 gate.
You need to be a current member of the Tennis Fleet to use the Playmate Ball Machine. Show your card to the security guard who will check your name against the roster and will give you a key to the shed in exchange for your member card. If you are not sure how to use the machine, any fleet officer will be happy to show you or answer any questions you may have.
The ball machine should be placed a few feet in from the baseline. Adjust the settings to your liking and use the remote control to suspend firing. When finished, fill hopper with balls, coil the extension cord and place cord on top of hopper and return to the shed. Please be gentle! The machine is used by many people and we want it to last a long time.
Please refrain from using the machine when the ground is wet. Remember to leave the remote control. The balls are replaced on a periodic basis but any contributions are gladly accepted.
