SDYC's signature spring regatta is just around the corner. With 3 days of racing (Friday Match Race, Sat/Sun ocean fleet racing), 3 nights of social events, daily prizes, overall awards, great sponsors and high competition, this is a weekend at SDYC not to be missed!
Regatta Chair S/C Wayne Terry has done a phenomenal job putting together a fun and special weekend to commemorate the 40th Yachting Cup. The take home trophies are definitely something to battle for on the water, and the Daily First awards will quench any sailors thirst.
With 16 teams jumping on and off the club's J/22s in La Playa on a very tight match race course, members are invited to come out to the E Dock bar that will be set up on Friday to watch the action. By late Friday afternoon, the top teams will be matched up to battle for the Ton Cup title.
The Race Committee is looking to set 3 ocean courses for the 11 fleets that have registered for the 2012 Yachting Cup, allowing each fleet to have their space on the course.
The Melges fleet will sail all 3 days as the weekend will serve as their Melges Race Week. Friday will be a South Bay course while Sunday they'll join the rest of the fleets in the ocean.
