For the past two weeks, we've been training at Oakcliff in Long Island, NY. During this focussed time in the 49er, we've had the chance to practice by ourselves, practice with other 49er Olympic hopefuls, and compete. We've sailed two regattas since being here and have performed well. You can find results here.

Looking forward into the next few weeks, we'll be doing a bit of training in Southern California and Miami in October, followed by a month long training trip to Australia in November. We're really excited for the opportunity to travel to Australia, where we'll be spending time in Sydney and Melbourne training and competing. Keep reading to see how you can help support us in the coming weeks.

Refocusing and setting goals post-World Championships.
Finishing 57th at the Worlds was a tough pill to swallow.  We had been improving throughout the summer and had our sights set on a breakout performance on the biggest stage.  To finish in the top half of the fleet would be a sweet reward after our first 6 months of hard work.  And in the midst of all of the excitement we completely forgot that...we are still only 6 months in!

Racing hard and measuring our skills off of 49er sailors who have been working diligently for over a decade was the real success.  However, it is not until well after the Worlds (about a month now) that we are able to see this.  The next challenge is learning from our mistakes and using them as a strength to set new and better goals for the next few weeks, months and years.

The difficulty and complexity that is associated with our goal of winning an Olympic medal is not lost on us and a quick wake-up call at the Worlds will insure that we stay on track.  We are working hard to be the best teammates for each other and while the goal for the next few months is to keep perfecting our boathandling and boatspeed, we are constantly working together to keep the whole process in perspective.  We showed some very, very solid signs at the Worlds and now it is up to us to start to clean up the rest.

Our next big training trip coming up is going to be in Australia. We're headed over for a month and will really be able to focus and dial into the boat. While we are very excited for this amazing opportunity, we are going to launch a fundraising campaign to help with most of the costs of the trip. If you're interested in helping out, see below for some specific asks and please feel free to reach out to for more details.
