Sabot Summer Series #2 Video

Here's our first drone footage of the summer, courtesy of coach Cal Pedroli! No editing or audio yet, but we'll use this footage to decide which angles are most effective, and coaches will review the action with sailors. Summer Series #2 was particularly tricky, with big shifts and pressure changes, which are characteristic of this SSW direction in La Playa. Can you see the puffs and shifts moving down the course? We'll also have to work on our drone defense system, as attacking seagulls literally drove us out of the air!

Snow Wins 49er North American Championship

The 49er & 49erFX North American Championships were held June 23 to 25 in Kingston, Ontario. Nevin Snow and Maximiliano Agnese (USA) won the 11-boat 49er fleet, posting all firsts in the nine race series. 

Warrior Sailing Program at SDYC

21 wounded veterans are taking on a new challenge, sailing, right here in the waters of San Diego, June 13-15, 2017. They won't just be going for a boat ride, these men and women will be participating in an intense three-day course to learn how to sail on their own, despite their injuries. The Warrior Sailing Program, free for participants, is a partnership of the Armed Forces YMCA and San Diego Yacht Club.

SDYC’s College Sailing Award Winners

At an awards ceremony following racing for the Gill Coed National Championship, the honors for the Marlow Ropes College Sailor of the Year, Robert H. Hobbs Sportsmanship Award and the Leonard M. Fowle Trophy for the Best Overall Team were presented. The names of the winners will be added to the ICSA Hall of Fame display located in the Robert Crown Center at the U.S. Naval Academy in Annapolis, Md.

Jack Reiter & Team SDYC Win LBYC Jr Match Race Invitational

Jack Reiter of San Diego Yacht Club and his teammates Jack Egan and John Masenik pulled off a three-peat this past weekend in winning the 2017 Junior Match Race Invitational sponsored by Kaenon and hosted by Long Beach Yacht Club.

Something For Everyone at the 2017 SoCal 300

Returning for its second year, the 2017 California Offshore Race Week featured the combined powers of five yacht clubs along the California coast. With efforts from Encinal Yacht Club, San Francisco Yacht Club, Monterey Peninsula Yacht Club, Santa Barbara Yacht Club, and San Diego Yacht Club, a week-long schedule of races occurred covering almost 600 miles of the California coast between May 27 and June 3.
