Friday, March 21, 2014 -
Sunday, March 23, 2014
SDYC

This Clinic will be coached by four-time National Match Racing Champion Dave Perry, author of the North U Match Racing Playbook.

Dave will coach the advanced tactics and strategies needed to be competitive and successful in Match Racing on the National level. On the water, Dave will run the sailors through all the scenarios, with on-the-spot feedback, and video replay after sailing.

The Clinic will focus on the four major aspects of Match Racing:
The Pre-Start * Upwind Tactics * Downwind Tactics * Killing Penalties

Fee: $50 a person. (The cost of participating is low because the boat use and coach fees are generously underwritten by a grant from an anonymous supporter of match racing.) The fee includes a copy of the North U Playbook and the Menin/Cutler CD called Match Racing.

Associated Costs: each person/team is responsible for arranging and paying for their own transportation (we will try to arrange local transportation from and to the airport and yacht club for teams that need it), accommodation and food/beverage (we will provide dinner Saturday night).

Who May Come: We strongly encourage you to come in teams of 4. You are welcomed to bring your coach (there is no fee for the coach). If you cannot come with a team or full team, you may come individually. Full teams will get preference if we are at capacity.

Teams will be invited in the order they enter (see below), except that college teams will get preference until February 21, then it is open to high school sailors and other interested sailors. But all sailors interested should enter as soon as possible to have their names put on the list.

Fly In: to the San Diego International airport. The Yacht Club is about a 20 minute drive from the airport.

Accommodation: There may be limited housing available (tell the San Diego Yacht Club when you enter), but you are encouraged to try to find local accommodations with friends, etc.

Boats: J/22’s with main, jib and spinnaker – sailed by teams of 3 or 4 people.
Total crew weight will not be a factor in the Clinic.

Number of Teams: this Clinic will be capped at ten (10) teams (40 people).

To Enter: Contact the San Diego YC (see below). If a team or individual has paid their fee and there is not room for them, their fee will be refunded. No fees will be refunded for cancellations made after March 7, 2014
