This is a multi-level 29er clinic: both for sailors who are interested in gaining proficiency in the 29er and improving their double-handed trapeze/spinnaker skills and for advanced teams to prepare for the Youth World Qualifiers.

Coaches: Ryan Eastwood, Quinn Wlison, and 3rd coach TBD. We will hire additional coaches as needed to provide appropriate instruction for a range of levels.

Quinn Wilson represented the US four consecutive times at the Youth World Championships in the 29er, winning a Silver medal in 2014 with teammate Riley Gibbs. Check out his bio on his website: https://www.saltybrother.com/founders

Ryan Eastwood is an accomplished 29er sailor who has experience coaching top 29er teams to success at the 29er MWWs and 29er Nationals in 2021.

3rd Coach TBD

For sailors with a 29er:

You may register with a teammate or you can register solo and be paired with a teammate by the coaches.

For sailors needing use of an HPYS loaner boat:

You must register for the class individually but can put on the registration form if you have a preferred teammate. All these applications will be initially listed as “pending" to give the organizers time to ensure sufficient loaner boats and coaches. We may not be able to admit every applicant and will let sailors know if they have been accepted as soon as possible after the application deadline.

Application deadline is  at midnight.

Clinic cost is $200/sailor. Late fee of $50 after February 4, 5:00 PM. Additional fee of $50/sailor for use of an HPYS loaner boat plus damage deposit.

Damage Deposit for teams using an HPYS loaner boat: any SDYC member who pays by club charge, we reserve the right to charge your member account a one-time fee of up to $250 for boat damage. For those paying by credit card, we reserve the right to re-charge your card a one-time fee of up to $250 for boat damage.

Safety: It is recommended that sailors wear a wetsuit and booties. Crews should have properly fitting trapeze harnesses. All sailors will need to wear a rash guard or pinnie over their trapeze harness and lifejacket to ensure that buckles are covered. A Fox40 whistle must be attached to your lifejacket.

Schedule: Saturday 10AM - 5PM and Sunday 10AM - 4PM. Pizza on Saturday during debrief.

Venue: SDYC

Gear: Be prepared to be on the water sailing for 4 to 5 hours. Bring appropriate gear including safety gear listed above plus dry bag with any extra gear and plenty of water and quick, healthy snacks to keep you going!
