Visit Baja with the Cruising Fleet to have an experience never to be forgotten. A trip from SDYC and return to SDYC by bus with your Cruising Fleet friends to Scammon’s Lagoon (Ojo de Liebre) and Laguna de San Ignacio. The Cruising Fleet did this previously in 2006, and the feedback was 100% positive. The trip was oversold.

This year’s trip will be for 6 days. We will be picked up at SDYC and returned to SDYC. The bus will not have any chicken coops on top nor stop for any locals along the way. It is quite comfortable with a head in the rear for emergencies, but there will be stops for necessities. There will be 3-4 whale excursions in pangas and the whale experience is amazing. The number of whale excursions depends on how we structure the trip. We are up close and personal with the whales, touching them, and watching their unafraid interaction with man. Hotel reservations are secured in advance in the best (for Baja) properties. There were no complaints last time. All meals, (BLD), except for 2 evenings, Guerrero Negro and San Ignacio, are included. The date of the trip is Feb. 20-25, 2015. This is the height of the season for the California Grey Whale in Baja. There are many mothers with young calves in the lagoons and they have little or no fear of the pangas or the people in them.

We have this trip reserved until the end of August, 2014.  We have to have a commitment (money up front, deposit) and a contract signed in order to keep the trip. The tour company opens the tours in September to the general public. They are the same company we used previously, and are very reliable. They also do the Mexico trips for the San Diego Natural History Museum. The cost of the trip will be between $1000 and $1100 US per person double occupancy, plus an appropriate tip.  Single will depend on availability and cost more. If 2 singles want to go try and team up. Alcoholic drinks are your responsibility except for welcome Margaritas at some of the hotels. This trim has a maximum of 24 people. The reason for this advance notice is that hotel rooms are limited in Baja and the demand for them is very high at whale watching season.
