Start the New Year out right! Join us for the annual La Playa Cruise. Bring your boat to La Playa on Friday and spend the weekend rafted up with friends. Members not on rafted boats are encouraged to join us at the shore events.
Reservations for the La Playa Anchorage are recommended. Use the Port of San Diego Web Site. There is no fee.
FRIDAY, JAN 19
Top up your fuel tanks for the long journey to the annual January La-Playa Raft-up.
9:00 to 3:00 Dale Bingham will co-ordinate and Monitor Channel 78. Early rafts will start setting up at 9:00. Coordinated Anchored Rafts will all be established in La Playa by 3:00.
After 3:00 Set an individual anchor and visit the rafts and events by dingy
4:00 Post raft up no-host happy-hour at Fiddler’s Green. Shelter Island Drive at Shafter St. Hop on your favorite combination of dingy, bike, car, or skateboard and join us.
SATURDAY, JAN 20
Cocktails and Dinner in a private room at the recently renovated Best Western Blue Wave Restaurant at 2051 Shelter Island Drive. Parking for both dingies and cars is available. Cars can park on Shelter Island Drive or the lot across the street for free. Cocktails start at 4:30pm, dinner at 6pm. $38.95 + g&t. Will be SDYC Acct Charge.
09:15 Cruise Captain Workshop at SDYC.
10:00 Dingy; Kayak; SUP; Swim Race.
• Rules will be announced.
• Creative solutions to bypass the rules will be encouraged.
• Target toss contest. • Floating target with unique zingers to increase the challenge.
Noon Award Ceremony on board host boat “KEET”.
4:30 Dingy convoy to pre-arranged tie up at Shelter Island Marina. Welcome Reception with No-host bar in Sunset Room.
6:00 to 7:00 Full Dinner Buffet with Dessert.
Entrée: Huli Style Chicken Breast; Stir Fry Veg; Steamed Hapa Rice; Teriyaki Grilled Salmon; Short Ribs; Kings Hawaiian Rolls; Tropical Fruit Dessert: Pina Colada Panna Cotta; Gluten Free Chocolate Torte, Coffee or Tea included. No Host Bar for Other Beverages.
7:00 to 9:30 Nautical Knowledge Challenge. Time allowances for questions will gradually increase because the no host bar will remain open.
