Description Norman B. Neely. Commodore 1968. Neely grew up in the San Joaquin Valley and left shortly after high school to begin a career in sales and to launch Neely Enterprises. As Commodore, he was able to upgrade electrical systems, water service and improve docks and slip facilities. Under his leadership there was an increase in the use of club facilities by members and visitors. During the Catalina Island Cruise in 1968, Neely was berthing 100 vessels per week. He and his wife Jane escorted many races, including the PC family races in Marina Del Rey and the Manzanillo Race. 1962 Neely charied the Acapulco Race and the Neelys with escort yacht "La Siesta" became known for their hospitality and service to yachtsman.
