E. Scofield Bonnet

E. Scofield Bonnet, known by his friends as "Sco", was 15 years old when his parents bought him #16 DAWN, in 1935. He sailed this boat out of the SDYC until WWII broke out. Sco reluctantly sold his beloved DAWN and became a pilot until the wars end. Sco never owned another PC, but to this day, loves to tell stories of sailing with such greats as George Kettenburg Jr., Joe Jessop, Wally Springstead, Paul Kettenburg, Doug Giddings, etc.

When SDYC member Richard S. "Rish" Pavelec bought #16 in 1999, she was in terrible shape. These two men became friends. Throughout the restoration of DAWN, Sco would visit the yard and offer photos, magazine articles and details to help with the restoration. Sco lives in a lovely appartment overlooking San Diego Bay where he can see all the PC's coming and going. Rish can expect an evening phone call if DAWN sails by with a luff in the sail!!!
