By | August 07, 2014

This week, our members are proudly representing the SDYC burgee all across the globe. From competing in junior regattas to gearing up for the Olympics, here’s where our members are this week:

Junior Sabot Nationals: Newport Beach, CA - Results
Up the coast in Newport Beach, many junior sabot sailors from SDYC are competing in the Junior Sabot Nationals. After a fun and educational summer program at the club, Team SDYC looks to bring their A game to NHYC and battle the competition from across Southern California. Check out the Team SDYC Junior Sabot Nationals Promo Video by Timmy Fraher.

Chubb U.S. Junior Championships: Traverse City, MI - Highlight Video - Results
Across the country in Traverse City, Michigan junior sailors Paul Didham, Johannes McElvain and Rebecca McElvain are competing in the Chubb U.S. Junior Championships. Almost 900 sailors across the states competed regionally in order to win the coveted spot as their region’s entry in the championship campaign. Each region is able to send one sailor or team to compete in each of the three fleets. Didham is competing in the Byte CII fleet while the McElvain pair sail in the Interlake fleet.

US Sailing Olympic Test Event: Rio de Janeiro, Brazil
South of the border in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, sailing superstar Vince Brun is offering a helping hand (along with his familiarity of Brazilian waters) to the U.S. Sailing Team as they participate in the Olympic Test Event. Brun, who learned how to sail on these waters, will help the U.S. team navigate and train as they set their sights on gold in the 2016 Games.

Star Eastern Hemisphere Championship: Brunnen, Switzerland - Live Race Tracking
As the sole United States skipper competing in Brunnen, Switzerland at the 2014 Star Eastern Hemisphere Championship, George Szabo is ready to represent both club and country.
