Fall After School Sailing
September 2 - October 31, 2008

The goal of this class is to teach young children a basic knowledge of sailing. The curriculum includes learning names for the different parts on boats, finding wind direction, learning to steer boats, tacking and gybing, capsizing, and other basic features of sailing. The class enables kids to become familiar with water safety, learn about different kinds of boats, and feel confident at the yacht club and on the water. Student will be expected to sail individually in Sabots. This will be a good course to complement Summer Sea Horses or Sea Otters who would like a review of the basics they learned.

The intermediate sailing class has been created for kids that have taken beginning sabots, and could use some extra practice with proper sailing techniques. The class will introduce the basics of racing, while still focusing on proper technique and safety on the water. This class is the next step for those kids that comfortably finished Sea Horses or Sea Otters during the summer.
