22nd Annual J-CAT

The 22nd Annual Junior Coastal Anglers Tournament (J-CAT)  was a rousing success this Sunday August 7th.  20 juniors and 13 adults left the Sea Forth dock aboard the Sea Watch.  The day was sunny, the sea calm and the air WAS full of excitement. The fishing was fantastic, I think every Junior angler caught a fish.  They reeled in bass, rock fish, barracuda, mackerel, sculpin, and a white-sea bass.  Everyone had hot dogs, drinks and chips and a fantastic day.

The winners were:

Largest Bass - Reagan Malthaneer
Largest Barracuda - Sean Rosier
Largest Rock-Fish - Sean Guentner
Largest Other Species and Largest Fish - Caleb Harris

Caleb caught a 22.5 pound white sea bass and was sponsored by Gary Stephany.  The head of the white sea bass was taken to the Hubbs Research Center.  Each Junior Angler received a rod or reel at the end of the trip.  Many thanks to Captain Chris and his crew and to the Sea Forth organization for all their help in making the 22nd J-CAT a very successful event.  Also, thanks to the parents and to Peter Evering for all their help during the trip.
