Hi there,
I think it is great that you are participating in the Clean Regattas program for the Etchells Worlds! I am working to incorporate sustainable practices into our regatta management at California Yacht Club. I'd be interested in talking with you about how your are coordinating this effort, addressing challenges - and to share ideas/best practices. Thanks!

An outstanding job.
If is refreshing to hear of young people that we have had an influence with as they have grown in their boating knowledge prove that it is so worth while to teach the about all aspects of water safety.
Thank you to Don Whelan and his compatriots for a job that we are proud of.

Wonderful story of competence, proper response, and happy ending. Actions by the indivuals involved is so representable of a very high standard for unselfish devotion to the needs of others. My congratulations. Pleased and proud to be associated with sailors of this quality. JBL 07-31-2010 - Boston L056

Jake, I was on the Ayeea X on the front dock during the big blow , also with you on E Dock afterwards. Things did fly around . Although I know what happened, your write-up nicely conveyed what it felt like to be in it.
 Excellent report !

Nicely done, Jake. A sailor needs to know his limits, and sometimes needs to test them, to find them. Then you have wisdom.

Despite the challenges, we had so much fun yesterday that I'm still wearing a big grin. I'm a new member and usually (try) to sail an International 14. I just got a slip at SDYC the other day for my new-to-me Santa Cruz 27 and put together a pick-up crew to go out and have some fun in the Hot Rum. I guess we got out to SD #3 before the race was abandoned. We were a little busy and missed the memo ... thought there was a parade of boats overtaking us but figured out what must be up while surfing to the leeward mark ... rounded anyway. Mark #3 (leeward mark) looked partially deflated and there was no clearing mark. We got a good workout dodging the forest of kelp.

Quote of the day, "Hey ... where'd everybody go?"

Properly sailed what there was of the course. Time at Finish: 14:12:10

Broken gear list:
can of Budweiser,
bag of chips.

Thanks for the fun. We'll be out there for Hot Rum III
